Guatemala's Global Challenges Scholarship Grantees

Anselmo Scholarship Winer
 
Scholarship winner of 1998, 11-year old Anselmo Mejía Díaz lives in Cajolá, Quetzaltenango and is in the fifth grade. He is an indigenous Quiché Mayan. During his free time, he participates in health and community development activities of the Instituto de Desarrollo y Educación Integral (IDEI). In this picture, he is between his mother, on the right, and Gloria García on the left (NYEF Board Member and Executive Advisor).

Yolanda Scholarship Winer Scholarship winner of 2002, 14-year old Yolanda Araceli Cupíl Chojolón lives in Llanos del Pinal, Quetzaltenango and is attending eighth grade. During her free time, she participates in health and community development activities of one of our partner organizations, the Instituto de Desarrollo y Educación Integral (IDEI). She is an indigenous Quiché Mayan leader and has represented her community in national conferences on the rights of children. In the picture she is at her home with her mother to the right and younger sister in the middle.
